Are you Jean Auel? No! I'm Diane in Cincinnati - a longtime fan! Like hundreds of her other fans, I got to meet her on her Shelters of Stone author tour. I just enjoy her work - and enjoy sharing my work with my fellow readers - in my spare time! Back to TopHow do you pronounce Jean Auel's last name? Owl - like the bird. Back to TopHow do I write to Jean Auel? Her secretary's email is ec.enterpriseslp@gmail.com. You can write to her at her P.O. box:
If you wish to mail something (like a book to be signed), I recommend you make contact first to find out the possibilities and best way to go about it. Updated 24 April 2023 Back to TopHow many more books will there be in the Earth's Children series? On Jean's Shelters of Stone booksigning tour - and to the press, she repeatedly answered this question with: "There will be at least one more book." Beyond that, she wasn't telling. In January 2005, I got this quote from Jean (via Kendall): "There will be more than six books before the series is finished." BUT the press release for The Land of Painted Caves stated this clearly in the subject line: "The Land of Painted Caves, Jean M. Auel's Sixth and Final Book in the Earth's Children Series..." AND in the email from the Senior Vice President, Executive Director of Publicity for The Crown Publishing Group giving me the early scoop on the announcement, he included this in his description of the press release contents: "the long-awaited sixth and final novel..." So... I'd say it's pretty darn definite that The Land of Painted Caves is actually going to cover the rest of Ayla's story! What about all those rumors? The same old rumors were circulating during the wait for The Shelters of Stone and The Land of Painted Caves. How many did YOU find were true? ;-) What was the AuelPage and what happened to it? The AuelPage, the ORIGINAL ECfans website, started on 17 June 1996 in the 'Athens' (Literature) community on Geocities. With the wait for Book 5, now known as The Shelters of Stone, it grew quite rapidly as more and more fans found the internet and searched avidly for any news of Jean's long awaited book, with many posting their questions and hopes in the site's guestbook. The questions and comments in there spurred me to add more information to the site. Yahoo bought Geocities and shut down our original home around 2002. Sortly before that, Geocities started temporarily shutting down popular sites for drawing too many visitors. Punishment for success. I moved some of our files to onebridgehome.com when the temporary shut-downs begun, making it a total move when Yahoo killed Geocities. I adopted an archaeology discussion forum ran by Eric, when the Jean Auel fans took it over, then added some free discussion areas from everyone.net when that grew too large. I eventually snagged 'ecfans.com' and moved us to a separate server account, so I could consolidate our discussion forums into one place, using the Ultimate Bulletin Board software. We're still using it - just a few generations later. How is this site supported without advertising? Wow! Thank you for asking! In the earliest years, I simply paid for everything out of my own pocket so we could have a website that was FREE of the pop-up advertising that had totally engulfed the internet. A good friend of mine, Gabi, told me about another discussion site she spent time at that was user supported. People who enjoyed the site would donate funds to keep the site going - they called it Sponsoring. So... since 2000, we have had Site and Board Sponsors here at ECfans. Most people are happy to pitch in. I seldom come out and ask, except when I am terribly desperate, because I simply hate to ask for help. I LOVE to receive it, however! If YOU would like to help by sponsoring, please visit the Sponsors page. And - Thank You, in advance for the help! |
