Radio Scotland - bringing you Jean Auel and Diane in Cincinnati!
They covered 3 books in the half hour segment (they review some really interesting books - quite the variety), AND Muriel (the show's presenter) interviewed Jean while she was in France for the book release, so the whole Shelters of Stone segment (which is first) is about 10 minutes long. I really enjoyed Jean's part of the show! Out of my 1/2 hour interview with Pennie, I made about 2 minutes of air time. Interesting. Muriel, having read ONLY The Shelters of Stone and it not quite being her kind of entertainment, was pretty harsh on it. There was alot we covered in the 1/2 hour radio interview that I was hoping would make the final show. My two minutes that did make the show had alot of commentary cut out between sentences, so it wasn't flowing in the context of the final results. That's the way of journalism - they use what fits their story best, of course. Thank you to Pennie Latin from the BBC for setting up the interview from Scotland and for the fun interview - and to Bruce Ellis with Cincinnati's WGUC Radio Station for setting up the Cincinnati end of things! You were both great! Bruce is also an Auel Fan - the first I got to break the news of The Shelters of Stone's release to in person! That was almost as fun as the interview itself! |
